JWA’s Weather Data API is the weather API, which is the Web API, that provides access to weather forecast data (meteorological forecasts and historical observation values). By obtaining weather forecasts via API, you can make use of it in a variety of ways, such as displaying it on apps and web services, analyzing your own data with weather data, and building forecast models. JWA provides highly accurate weather data developed and enhanced using the latest technology and our unique methods.
Obtain Terrestrial Data for Any Specified Location
Obtain data for land areas between 72°N and 57°S, excluding Greenland, by latitude and longitude with a 25 km grid.
User-Friendly API
Retrieve data on temperature, humidity, precipitation, snowfall, wind direction and speed, and weather conditions in a single request. The data is provided in JSON format, making it easy to integrate into your systems.
Plans
The Global Plan (global including Japan area) and Japan Plan (Japan area) are available.
If you need detailed data for Japan, please select the Japan plan.

While it is assumed that the data will be processed and used through requests from end-user terminals (smartphones, PCs, etc.) or intermediate servers, separate pricing applies if the data itself is to be used by third parties.

We will invoice you for the previous month’s usage at the end of each month. Upon receiving the invoice, please make the payment by the end of the following month.
Regarding observed values and forecast values for Japan area, data can be obtained with a 1km grid resolution and updated hourly.

I would like to know the types of meteorological data and data specifications.

Can I use it for commercial purposes?
Yes, you can. However, prior approval from JWA is required. Additionally, if you are providing weather information to a wide audience, only the Observed Value and Basic Plans can be used. The Premium Plan is available for internal use only by the contracting organizations.

Can I retain data on caches or intermediate servers?
Yes, you can. However, prior approval from JWA is required. It is also possible to use it in a system that responds to a request from end user's terminals via caches or intermediate servers.
Plans

Is there a trial plan?
Yes, we offer a trial plan. If you wish to apply for it, please proceed with the process through the CONTACT US. However, the trial plan is limited to 100 requests per month and it is intended for confirming specifications and formats.

What is the procedure if I want to change my plan?
Please contact the JWA representatives by the 15th of each month. You will be able to use the updated plan starting the following month.

Is there a minimum contract period?
There is no minimum contract period. Charges will be incurred from the month you start using the service, but you can also use the service for just one month and then cancel.

How will billing work if the expected number of requests is exceeded?
The JWA representatives will check the number of requests at the end of the month, and if exceeded, we will contact you at the beginning of the following month. If you wish to change your plan, please contact us by the 15th of each month. If the number of requests exceeds the limit for two consecutive months, the maximum number of requests will be restricted to the current plan's limit.
Applications and Cancellations

How soon can I start using the service after inquiry?
After JWA receives your inquiry, we will communicate on the application forms, and within about 10 business days, we will to provide the necessary information to start using the API.
