The technology automatically detects linear precipitation bands in areas where disaster risk is rapidly increasing, using rainfall distribution over the previous three hours together with the Japan Meteorological Agency’s hazard distribution information.
This enables the identification of conditions equivalent to Alert Level 4 or higher, the threshold local governments use as a basis for issuing evacuation orders.
